Alt. Names
Butyl Polyether Glycol
Description
The Ethoxylation Reaction of Butanol and Ethylene Oxide in the presence of a Catalyst forms a series of Butyl Glycol Ethers C4H9-(OC2H4)n-OH. Butyl Polyether Glycol is the Fraction with n = 4 and above. BPG is used in Brake Fluids, Mining Fluids, Asphalt Additive, Dust Suppressant, Heat Captive Fluids, Coatings, and Concrete Anti-Shrinking Agent. It reduces surface tension and minimizes shrinkage/cracking as Water evaporates from Concrete.
