Description

Idemitsu's chiba ethylene plant proves modern technology (Journal Article) | OSTI.GOV, 9th Mar 1987

A number of advanced technologies have been combined for the first time in Idemitsu Petrochemical Co.'s ethylene plant at Chiba, Japan. The 246,500 metric ton/year plant first introduced feed in May 1985 and has experienced successful operation since then. Advanced technologies used in the plant include: cracking furnaces that utilize M.W. Kellogg Co.'s millisecond technology, gas turbines whose exhausts are the only source of oxygen for the furnaces, special burners designed for firing of pyrolysis fuel oil, and heat exchangers that allow recovery of low-level waste heat.
