• Late 1990s: expanded

In 1992, Dow Chemical celebrated 50 years of operation in Canada. To help celebrate, it gave itself quite a birthday present -- a three-phase, $800-million hydrocarbons project for its Fort Saskatchewan, AB, facility.
The three pieces of the project are:
../.. A new fractionator. This is a joint project between Dow Chemical Canada Inc., Shell Canada Products Ltd., Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. and Petro-Canada Products.
../.. Brown & Root did the general mechanical contract work for the fractionator. Dow acted as its own general contractor, buying all the parts. Dow-designed software will handle process control. It is able to simulate most control loops. Dow is also making extensive use of fibre optic technology.(Source)
