PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Company is a major refining and petrochemical subsidiary of PetroChina (CNPC), and the largest integrated oil and chemical enterprise in western China. It was formed in 2000 by consolidating the main businesses of the former Lanzhou Refinery and Lanzhou Chemical Industry Company into a single operating entity under PetroChina.

Role within PetroChina

Lanzhou Petrochemical functions as one of PetroChina's core regional refining-and-chemicals hubs, operating alongside other large regional complexes such as Dushanzi, Fushun and Daqing within CNPC's network. The company is part of PetroChina's Refining & Chemicals segment and produces a wide slate of petroleum products and basic petrochemicals including transportation fuels, lube base oils, ethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, ammonia and urea.

Operating Footprint

Lanzhou Petrochemical operates two major manufacturing sites: its historic integrated refining and petrochemicals complex in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, and a newer large-scale petrochemical facility in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. The Yulin site operates through a wholly-owned subsidiary, PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd., established in 2019. This two-site structure positions the company across both Gansu and Shaanxi provinces to serve inland Northwest China markets.

Organization and Supporting Units

Beyond its manufacturing assets, Lanzhou Petrochemical is supported by in-house equipment manufacturing and research organizations, including specialized equipment suppliers and the Lanzhou Petrochemical Research Center providing R&D and technical support to PetroChina's broader refining and chemicals business.
