CNOOC Refining & Chemicals Co., Ltd. (CNOOC Refining & Chemicals) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation and was established in Beijing in November 2005[1].
According to the strategic goal of building a world-class energy company with Chinese characteristics, in October 2015, CNOOC implemented a reform and restructuring of its refining and chemical industry, establishing CNOOC Petrochemical that integrates production, sales and research with market-oriented operations, professional management, and group operations. After the restructuring, CNOOC Petrochemical officially began operations in 2016, with main businesses including: petroleum refining, production, sales and storage of petrochemical and salt chemical products, refining and chemical technology R&D, and refining and chemical engineering design. By the end of 2018, the company's crude oil primary processing capacity reached 52.2 million tons/year, ethylene production capacity was 2.2 million tons/year, with asphalt and salt chemical production capacity ranking among the top in China, while refining and ethylene production capacity ranked third domestically[1].
