Ownership
KAP Limited acquired Safripol Holdings Proprietary Limited on January 1, 2017, for R4.1 billion (approximately USD 310 million).
Safripol traces its heritage to April 1, 1972, when it was established as a joint venture between Sentrachem (South Africa) and Hoechst (Germany).
The company was owned by Dow Chemical from 1999 to 2007, then operated under private equity ownership (Rockwood Private Equity, Thebe Investment Corporation, and management) until the KAP acquisition.
Safripol operates as KAP's chemical division alongside Hosaf and Woodchem businesses, with headquarters in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
