Borealis Polyolefine GmbH is part of the Borealis Group, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals, and plant nutrients. The site is located outside of Vienna, near the company headquarters and the international airport. At the Schwechat location, polypropylene (PP) has been produced since 1961 and polyethylene (PE) since 1969 as raw materials for the plastics processing industry. The Borealis plant in Schwechat is one of the most modern and significant plastics production facilities in Europe, with an annual polyolefin capacity of around 1 million tonnes.
