In 2011, DAK Americas LLC (a subsidiary of Alpek, S.A.B. de C.V.) acquired the PET resin and fiber assets of Wellman, Inc., including the Bay St. Louis facility. Wellman was a prominent U.S. polyester producer, and the Bay St. Louis (Pearl River) site was one of its flagship plants.Following the acquisition, the facility was operated under the name DAK Americas Mississippi Inc. and later rebranded as Alpek Polyester Mississippi, Inc. to align with Alpek’s global polyester business branding.
