Suncor Energy Inc. is Canada's largest integrated energy company and a leading producer of synthetic crude oil from oil sands operations. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, the company operates as a vertically integrated energy enterprise spanning upstream production, midstream infrastructure, downstream refining, and retail marketing across North America.

The company was incorporated on August 22, 1979 under the Canada Business Corporations Act through the amalgamation of Sun Oil Company's Canadian operations with Great Canadian Oil Sands. The original Sun Company of Canada began operations in 1917 in Montreal.​ 

Suncor pioneered commercial oil sands development, operating the world's first commercial oil sands facility (originally Great Canadian Oil Sands) which commenced production in 1967.

• Holds 58.74% majority ownership in the Syncrude Joint Venture (350,000 bpd gross capacity)​

2. Exploration and Production (E&P) Segment

• Participates in major offshore projects including Hibernia (20% interest), Terra Nova (48%), White Rose (40%), and Hebron (21%)​

• Operates four refineries with combined capacity of approximately 466,000 barrels per day:​
