KTS, incorporated on 25 February 2021, is the direct successor/rebranding of INVISTA Performance Technologies (IPT) as the technology licensing group within Koch Engineered Solutions (KES), a unit of Koch Industries, Inc., explicitly created to drive greater collaboration and innovation across a growing technology licensing portfolio. KTS delivers world-scale process technology licensing across the polyester value chain (including the PTA "P8++" platform inherited from IPT), the refining space, and 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) and its derivatives.

Its heritage traces back to the beginning of the polyester industry through predecessor companies ICI and DuPont, in addition to INVISTA. Notably, a September 2025 announcement confirms KTS entered a strategic partnership with INVISTA (now positioned as a "fellow Koch, Inc. company") to accelerate deployment of INVISTA's technologies — indicating KTS and INVISTA now operate as sister companies under Koch, Inc., rather than KTS being a division of INVISTA.
