OMV Petrom S.A. is a Romanian integrated oil and gas company headquartered in Bucharest, and it is the largest energy producer in Southeastern Europe and one of the biggest corporations in Romania. The company is a majority-owned subsidiary of OMV Aktiengesellschaft, which acquired control in 2004 in what was Romania's largest privatization deal at that time.

Business Operations

OMV Petrom operates across the entire energy value chain through three main business segments:​

• Exploration & Production: Onshore and offshore exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas in Romania and the wider region, producing approximately 19.1 million barrels of crude oil and 3.18 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually
• Refining & Marketing: Operating the Petrobrazi refinery with capacity of approximately 86 kbbl/d, and managing a retail network of 778 filling stations across Romania (557), Bulgaria (94), Moldova (64), and Serbia (64)
• Gas & Power: Distribution of natural gas and power generation, with sales of approximately 4.1 billion cubic meters of gas annually, plus growing renewable energy projects

Market Position and Scale

OMV Petrom is the largest oil and gas producer in Southeast Europe and maintains dominant market positions across its operating territories. The company recorded revenues of EUR 12.5 billion in 2022, making it Romania's largest company. Since 2005, OMV Petrom has contributed over €44 billion to the Romanian state budget and invested approximately €190 million in community projects focused on education, health, environment, and local development.​

Strategic Direction

Under its Strategy 2030, OMV Petrom is investing €11 billion by 2030 to transform toward a lower-carbon future, including building the largest solar and wind portfolio in Romania while continuing to provide reliable energy supply for the region.
