The production facilities - established in Portland, Oregon in the USA in 1979 and expanded in 1996 - were Siltronic’s first international site. While the site originally supplied the American market, it has meanwhile evolved to become one of the main suppliers of competitive silicon wafers in semiconductor quality on the world market. In Portland, around 360 employees produce 200mm wafers on the basis of silicon crystals grown in the German Siltronic sites. The focus is on the complex manufacturing processes for polished and epitaxial wafers. Portland applies the highest standards in wafer manufacturing, while also following an agenda where environmental protection, resource management, and sustainability top the list. Leading institutions and environmental organizations have multiply awarded Siltronic Portland for this commitment over the past years.
