Description

Sodium Hydroxide, also known as Lye, Caustic Soda or Sodium Hydrate is an inorganic compound with the formula NaOH. It is a white solid ionic compound consisting of Sodium cations Na+ and Hydroxide anions OH. It is an odorless, highly corrosive, strong base. 

The pure form of sodium hydroxide also available as

  1. Sodium hydroxide pellets
  2. Sodium hydroxide flakes
  3. Sodium hydroxide granule
  4. Sodium hydroxide solution

Caustic soda is used in a wide variety of industrial sectors like:

  • Pulp and paper processing: caustic soda is used in the bleaching process, in de-inking of waste paper, and in water treatment.
  • Textile industry: caustic soda is used to produce cotton and synthetic fibers
  • Soap and detergent industry: caustic is broadly used to produce soaps and detergents
  • Oil and gas industry: caustic soda is used to remove pungent smells.
