Description

Amylene refers to any of several isomeric hydrocarbons with the molecular formula C5H10.

Amylene Isomers

Straight-Chain Isomers

  • 1-pentene: CH₂=CH-CH₂-CH₂-CH₃ (alpha-olefin)
  • cis-2-pentene: CH₃-CH=CH-CH₂-CH₃
  • trans-2-pentene: CH₃-CH=CH-CH₂-CH₃

Branched-Chain Isomers

  • 2-methylbut-1-ene: CH₂=C(CH₃)-CH₂-CH₃
  • 3-methylbut-1-ene: CH₂=CH-CH(CH₃)-CH₃ (isopentene)
  • 2-methylbut-2-ene: CH₃-C(CH₃)=CH-CH₃ (isoamylene)

Chemical Properties
