- Description
-
Saturated C9 aromatics (A9) are single-ring aromatic hydrocarbons and benzene ring isomers with the molecular formula C9H12 and an element composition of: carbon = 89.92%, hydrogen = 10.08%.
The 8 C9 aromatic structural isomers are as follows:
- Propylbenzene (n-propylbenzene)
- Isopropylbenzene (cumene)
- o-Ethyltoluene (2-ethyltoluene)
- m-Ethyltoluene (3-ethyltoluene)
- p-Ethyltoluene (4-ethyltoluene)
- 1,2,3-Trimethylbenzene (hemimellitene)
- 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene (pseudocumene)
- 1,3,5-Trimethylbenzene (mesitylene)
In the context of the refinery, C9 aromatics are constituant of aromatic light naphtha, which primary components include:
- Trimethylbenzenes (TMB): 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene (20-45%) and 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene (8-15%)
- Mixed ethyltoluenes (ET): 25-35% of the mixture
