Description
Piperylene is a volatile, flammable Hydrocarbon consisting of a five Carbon chain with two Double Bonds separated by one Single Bond, and with the formula CH2=CH-CH=CH2. Piperylene is obtained as a Byproduct of Ethylene production from Crude Oil, combustion of Biomass, Waste incineration and Exhaust Gases. It is used as a Monomer in the manufacture of Plastics, Adhesives and Resins. At standard conditions, Piperylene is a colorless Liquid. Upon release into the aquatic environment it is expected to adsorb to suspended particulate matter (SPM) based on its estimated KOC value. The alternating double and single Carbon-Carbon bonds form a conjugated system.
