Capacity and Scale:
The refinery covers an area of approximately 700,000 m² and has a crude oil processing capacity of about 3.9 million tonnes per year (around 85,000 barrels per day). It features a storage capacity exceeding 1.5 million cubic meters.

Operations:

The refinery handles the full cycle of crude oil refining, producing a range of petroleum products including gasoline, diesel, LPG, and sulphur. It is equipped with several advanced processing units, such as:

• Atmospheric and vacuum distillation units
• Thermal cracking and visbreaking units
• Platformer and reformer units
• Diesel desulphurisation
• Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) power generation facility

Logistics:

Crude oil is supplied exclusively by sea, with an offshore platform located 9 km from the coast that can accommodate very large crude carriers (VLCCs) up to 400,000 tonnes. The refinery has both land and maritime terminals, enabling efficient distribution to central Italian regions such as Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo, and Emilia-Romagna

Technology and Modernization:

Over the decades, the refinery has undergone significant modernization to meet stringent European and national standards for fuel quality, safety, and environmental protection. This includes the installation of advanced desulphurization units and the IGCC plant, which converts heavy refinery residues into clean syngas for electricity and steam production, improving overall efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

The refinery is certified for environmental management (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001), and quality management (ISO 9002).
