Air Products' Lu'an coal gasification project located in Shanxi Province, China

The Lu’An Clean Energy site in Changzhi, Shanxi Province, is a major integrated coal-to-chemicals and coal-to-liquids industrial complex. At this site, Air Products Lu’An (Changzhi) Co., Ltd. operates a large-scale gasification and syngas production facility.

Key Facilities and Operations:

• Air Separation Units (ASUs):
  Four large ASUs produce high-purity oxygen and nitrogen, essential for the gasification process and other industrial uses.

• Gasifiers:
  Four advanced dry-feed gasifiers convert coal (supplied by Lu’An Clean Energy) into synthesis gas (syngas), a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

• Syngas Clean-Up Systems:
  These units remove impurities (such as sulfur compounds and particulates) from the raw syngas, ensuring it meets the quality requirements for downstream chemical and fuel production.

• Integration with Lu’An Clean Energy:
  The site receives coal, steam, and power from Lu’An Clean Energy and, in turn, supplies purified syngas under a long-term contract. This syngas is used by Lu’An for the production of chemicals (such as methanol and ammonia) and synthetic fuels (via coal-to-liquids processes).
