The Camden site has a legacy dating back to the mid-20th century as a major center for nylon manufacturing in the southeastern United States. Originally established to produce nylon 6,6 fibers for the carpet and textile industries, the facility has undergone significant transformation in recent years. Following INVISTA’s acquisition by Koch Industries in 2004, the site was strategically repositioned to focus on advanced nylon 6,6 polymer production, aligning with shifting market demands in automotive, electronics, and industrial sectors.
The site sources key intermediates such as adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine (HMD) for nylon salt synthesis, either from within the INVISTA network or external suppliers. Nylon salt is polymerized into nylon 6,6 resin using advanced continuous and batch processes. The resin is compounded and supplied to customers in the automotive, electronics, and industrial sectors across North America. The site’s strategic location in South Carolina enables efficient logistics to major manufacturing hubs in the southeastern U.S. and beyond.
