The Victoria site was constructed in the late 1940s and early 1950s and has operated continuously since then. Originally developed by DuPont, the facility became part of INVISTA following Koch Industries’ acquisition in 2004. Over the decades, the site has evolved into one of the world’s major production centers for nylon intermediates.
The site is a major global producer of adiponitrile (ADN), the key precursor for nylon 6,6 polymers and fibers. A $250 million technology upgrade was completed in 2021, that brought INVISTA’s latest ADN process to Victoria, increasing capacity and efficiency.
Hexamethylenediamine (HMD | HMDA), another essential nylon 6,6 intermediate, is also produced at Victoria.
The site operates a significant adipic acid (ADA) unit, with a reported nameplate capacity of over 360,000 tons per year. The facility also produces specialty intermediates for industrial, textile, resin, and carpet applications.
In total, the site produces roughly 2 billion pounds of product per year, including ADN, HMD, and ADA.
