In business since 1967, eni’s refinery in Taranto has an authorized processing capacity of 6.5 million tonnes of crude oil and produces propane, butane, LPG blend, gasoline, diesel, jet fuels, fuel oils and bitumen. Over the years it has been subject to several upgrades, the last of which in 2009, with the construction of the hydrocracking plant. The Taranto refinery supplies the petroleum product market in South-East Italy
