Short Name
Loop Reactor
Description
The Loop Reactor has at least one Pump Apparatus for pumping the Reaction Stream and Polymer around the Loop. After the Monomer Inlet, the Liquid Reactor Stream with Catalyst, Solvent, Monomer (and other Ingredients, if present), flows downstream in the Flow Loop Reactor through a Static Mixer before reaching the first Heat Exchanger. Heat Transfer Media flows into a Housing of the first Heat Exchanger in an Inlet and out through an Outlet. The Reactor Stream and Formed Polymer resulting from the reaction therein of the Reactants flows to the Product Outlet at which some Product Polymer and Portion of the Reactor Stream are removed with the Remainder of the Reactor Stream flowing past the Product Outlet back through the Loop. The Loop may be equipped with more than one Heat Exchanger. Two or more Loop Reactors may be arranged in series or in parallel or, for more than two Reactors, in any series/parallel combination.
