Short Name: Absorption Column
Description: The uncondensed Material coming form the Condenser is Solvent-scrubbed to remove the remaining Phosgene (although for subsequent "in-line" operations, uncondensed gaseous Phosgene can be employed). Where the Phosgene is scrubbed with Solvent, the resulting Solution can be used in the subsequent Process. Alternatively, uncondensed COCI₂ may be passed into Activated Charcoal Adsorbers; preferential Adsorption of Phosgene occurs and the inerts pass to the Destruction System. Finally, the Product Gases remaining after Condensation and Absorption are scrubbed to destroy any remaining Phosgene.
