Description: Impurities in the hydrocarbon liquid, such as acids, alcohols, other oxygenated organic compounds, HCI and H₂S to mention the most common ones, are removed in the holding tank after addition of small amounts of Water/NaOH solution, or alternatively any substance that neutralize acids such as CaO or Ca(OH)₂. The formed sodium salts dissolve in water, which is then separated from the hydrocarbon fluid.
