5^th Apr 2018: - ExxonMobil Catalysts and Licensing LLC today announced an agreement with Sinochem Hongrun Petrochemical Co. Limited, to license ExxonMobil’s FLEXICOKING^TM technology to build a resid upgrading unit at Sinochem Hongrun’s High-End Chemical Park located in Binhai Economic-Technological Development Area, Weifang City, Shandong Province, People’s Republic of China. This grassroots unit will process about 1.2 million metric tons of vacuum residue feedstock per year and enable Sinochem Hongrun to produce high quality liquid products including clean transportation fuels and chemical feedstocks as well as clean-burning fuel gas. The project is currently in the engineering design phase and targeted for start-up in 2020. (Source)

4^th Sep 2024: Liu Xinxing, the production technology leader of Weifang Hongrun Technology Project, told reporters: "Our flexible coking production line is the first industrialized device in China to introduce the process package of ExxonMobil from the United States. The durene produced is the main raw material for the polyimide project. The polyimide project has thus become the only integrated production project with a full industrial chain in the country."
