Thank you for your response.

Further to this query, are there any limitations in terms of momentum at the inlet and outlet nozzles of a mercury removal unit? In the past, 6000 Pa has been used as a limit but are there any strict guideline to this to protect the inlet distributor?

For the non-regenerable mercury removal unit, the maximum allowable superficial velocity to prevent bed fluidisation is:

0.5 – 1.0 ft/s (0.15 – 0.30 m/s)

This figure comes from a dedicated MRU design calculator resource, which specifies this superficial gas velocity range as the design limit specifically to prevent fluidisation of the fixed adsorbent bed.
