Description

High-Speed Diesel (HSD) is a sub-category of automotive diesel used primarily in the Indian subcontinent market context, defined under BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) specifications. It is functionally the same product as standard automotive diesel (ADO), used in high-speed compression-ignition engines above 750 rpm — buses, trucks, cars, locomotives. In international markets the term "HSD" is rarely used; outside South Asia it is simply called "automotive diesel" or "road diesel."

High Speed Diesel is used in automotive applications. High-Speed Diesel has Flash Point >33°C for automobiles, should not produce a Flame Length of more than 18 mm, has Pour Point < 6°C, Viscosity between 2.5 and 7 cSt at 30°C, Sulfur content no more than 0.25 wt-%, and Diesel Index > 45.
