Description

Diethanolamine (DEA) is a colorless to pale yellow, viscous liquid with a faint ammonia-like odor and the formula HN(CH₂CH₂OH)₂. It is a secondary alkanolamine that is highly soluble in water and widely used as a surfactant, pH regulator, corrosion inhibitor, and for removing acid gases such as CO₂ and H₂S from natural gas. DEA is also found in personal care products, detergents, and as a chemical intermediate in various industrial applications.
