- Description
-
Renewable diesel is a synthetic diesel fuel that can be made from fatty esters - typically low-grade rendering and veggie oils or other biomass feedstock (wood, agricultural waste, garbage, etc.).
Unlike biodiesel, renewable diesel is a direct replacement fuel that requires no blending and is compatible with all diesel engines. The process for making renewable diesel is usually hydro-treatment. The process takes one molecule, crack it into basic parts, and then reform it with the introduction of hydrogen into pure diesel fuel similar to petrodiesel.
