Powerhouse of Energy Innovation Kern Oil & Refining Co. is an independent, family-owned and operated refinery producing what we call “California Clean” transportation fuels. Tucked into a rural corner of Kern County, Kern Oil & Refining Co. has been operating continuously in the Valley since 1934. Powered by a talented workforce of 155 women and men, Kern Oil & Refining Co. is the only refiner between the Bay Area and Los Angeles producing clean gasoline and renewable diesel, and a critical supplier of California’s southern Central Valley. We work hard to help get kids to school, people to work, and goods to market.
