The shaping and primary thermal consolidation of carbon/pitch mixtures into green or baked carbon bodies. This type covers electrode paste mixing, green forming (extrusion, vibration moulding), and baking furnace operations at 800–1,200°C. Individual technologies include ring furnace baking, tunnel kiln baking, and anode baking.
