Description
German company BASF developed the “Riedel-Pfleiderer Process” and started a process with a monthly output of 30 MT (in 1945, calculated based on 100% Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) output. Nowadays this Cyclical Anthraquinone Auto-Oxidation (AO) Process is still the leading Process in industrial H2O2 Production. The general mechanism of today’s used process proceeds in two steps: First Anthraquinone is reduced with Hydrogen on a Palladium | Raney-Nickel Catalyst to Hydroquinone, which reacts with Oxygen back to the Anthraquinone and H2O2.
