PT Lotte Chemical Indonesia’s Cilegon site is an integrated mixed‑feed steam cracker and downstream complex producing olefins, aromatics, fuel streams and polypropylene. The core asset is a 1.0 Mt/y mixed‑feed naphtha/LPG steam cracker integrated with a 350 kt/y PP unit and BTX/aromatics recovery, plus various pyrolysis‑derived streams. The naphtha cracker has a total production capacity of 3 MT/y[1],[2].

The facility was mechanical completed in early 2025, commercial operation commenced in October 2025, and the site was inaugurated on November 2025.

Feedstock

The steam cracker is capable of treating naphtha at 3,2 MT/y, with LPG support of up to 50% as a supplemental feedstock[2].

Functional role of the main streams

  • The ethylene and propylene slate feeds both internal PP production and external customers (e.g., a long‑term ethylene supply agreement with Asahimas Chemical), helping replace imports and support downstream plastics and chemical industries in Indonesia.

  • The BTX/aromatics stream (benzene, toluene, C8s) is positioned as feedstock for downstream styrenics, resins and solvents, with most volumes targeted at the domestic market.

  • Mixed C4 and derived streams (butadiene, raffinate‑1) supply synthetic rubber and other C4 chemicals, again with a focus on import substitution.

  • Pygas, C5 and C9+ fractions provide gasoline‑blend and chemical feed components, maximizing value from the cracker’s lighter and heavier liquid cuts.

  • The Lotte Petrochemical Factory in Cilegon began commercial operations in October 2025 and is integrated with the LCTN Merak polyethylene (PE) factory* with a capacity of 450 thousand tonnes which has been operating previously[2].
