Description

Sempra is a North American energy infrastructure holding company headquartered in San Diego, California, founded in 1998 through the merger of Pacific Enterprises and Enova Corporation. It is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America, delivering energy to nearly 40 million consumers across the United States, Mexico, and global LNG markets.

Core Business Structure

Sempra operates through three principal platforms:

  • Regulated utilities in California — including San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), two of the largest gas and electric utilities in the U.S.

  • Electric transmission and distribution in Texas — through its ~80% ownership of Oncor Electric Delivery Company, one of the largest electric transmission and distribution utilities in the U.S., serving ~4 million customers in Texas

  • LNG and energy infrastructure — through Sempra Infrastructure, its international energy subsidiary responsible for LNG development and export, including Cameron LNG, Port Arthur LNG, and Mexican energy infrastructure

Sempra Infrastructure — LNG Relevance

Sempra Infrastructure is the Sempra subsidiary that directly holds the 50.2% stake in Cameron LNG Holdings, LLC. It is also developing Port Arthur LNG in Jefferson County, Texas — a two-train, 13 mtpa Phase 1 project currently under construction — and ECA LNG in Baja California, Mexico.
