LLC RN-Tuapse Oil Refinery (Russian: ООО «РН-Туапсинский НПЗ», OOO RN-Tuapsinskiy NPZ) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PJSC Rosneft Oil Company, incorporated as a limited liability company in 2005 to operate the historic Tuapse refinery on Russia's Black Sea coast.
Ownership & Corporate Structure
LLC RN-Tuapse Oil Refinery is a 100% subsidiary of PJSC Rosneft, the Russian state-controlled integrated energy major. It forms part of Rosneft's Downstream / Refining business segment, alongside thirteen other refineries in Russia. The entity operates the refinery in conjunction with a sister company, LLC RN-Marine Terminal Tuapse, which manages crude receipt and product export loading at the adjacent Black Sea port — the two entities function as a single integrated production and export complex.
Physical Asset – The Tuapse Refinery
The refinery was first commissioned in 1929, making it one of Russia's oldest operating refineries and the only Russian refinery on the Black Sea coast. Equipment was evacuated during WWII in 1942, and post-war reconstruction began in 1948, with first units recommissioned in 1949. In 2024, it celebrated its 95th anniversary. The refinery has a crude distilation capacity of 12 million t/yr (~240,000 bpd).
Marine Terminal Integration
The adjacent LLC RN-Marine Terminal Tuapse (sister entity) has a transshipment capacity of approximately 17 million t/yr. A deepwater berth commissioned in 2013 can handle vessels of up to 80,000 DWT and process up to 7 million t/yr. The terminal exports products from not only the Tuapse refinery but also Rosneft's Achinsk and Samara refineries.
