Occidental Chemical Corporation, trading as OxyChem, is a leading U.S. producer of commodity and specialty chemicals, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1909, it was formerly a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oxy (Occidental Petroleum Corporation) until October 2025, when an agreement was reached for Berkshire Hathaway to acquire the company. OxyChem now operates as a Berkshire Hathaway company.

• Other Essential Chemicals: Calcium chloride (world's largest producer), sodium silicates, potassium carbonate (via the Armand Products joint venture with Church & Dwight Co.)

Manufacturing Footprint

OxyChem operates facilities across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Key U.S. assets include:

• An ethylene plant at Ingleside (Gregory, TX), operated as a 50/50 joint venture with Orbia (formerly Mexichem), with pipeline and storage infrastructure in Markham, TX

• Multiple chlor-alkali and vinyl production sites across the Gulf Coast and Midwest

OxyChem is a top-three U.S. manufacturer in polyvinyl chloride, chlor-alkali, chlorinated organics, and calcium chloride. Its market position is first or second in the United States for each of its principal product categories. The company employs between 1,001–5,000 people.
