Description

The capacity of the J1 refinery was doubled in the year 2009, with the commissioning of the second expansion phase, the Jamnagar Export Refinery Project (JERP). JERP was geographically located in the Special Economic Zone, adjoining the first phase, which was in the domestic tariff area. Given the economic zone it was located in, JERP was conceived with the sole objective of increasing exports of diesel and gasoline to the United States and European markets. The two refineries together amounted to world’s largest refining and petrochemical complex, in a single location.
